99 Balloons

I love this video on youtube. I saw it on the Oprah show on tuesday and wanted to share it with anyone interested. It is a father talking to his son Eliot, a baby born with trisomy 18. My little sister, Sarah, was born with trisomy 18. It was so positive and gave me a little glimpse into what life may have been like for her...a miracle and an angel. Grab a kleenex and enjoy.

I also saw this on Oprah, and I cried and cried over it. I think Eliot's parents are amazing. When I watched the video again after Oprah, the part that really got to me was when they went back to the hospital and Eliot's mom was so proud of him - like a mother being proud of her son who just became president. There is so much beauty in this world.

I was watching this while feeding the babies their bottles & afterwords just held them & cried. It makes me so grateful for my healthy babies that I get to keep on this earth (hopefully) for a little while & grateful for the parents strong enough to go through that.

My favorite part of the Oprah show was when Elliot's mom said, "I decided to be sad later." What a great lesson for all of us. A few months ago my older sister had a baby girl with Trisomy 18. She died before she was born.

I bawled when I saw it on Oprah and even Steve teared up a little. I'm happy they are welcoming a new baby into their family.
