On Thursday, we drove to the Roanoke Island Festival Park where we boarded a pirate ship, the Elizabeth II. I spent most of my time on the dock looking in the other direction. I was nervous Jacob was going to fall overboard...so David took over on the ship. The kids liked the Roanoke village where they got to dress in armour and trap each other in the guillotine.

Kate and Boo (one of my favorite pictures of the entire trip)
Ben and Taylor
After the park, we headed to the North Carolina Aquarium. Kate had fun playing doctor to the injured turtles, but after visiting our National Aquarium in Baltimore the older kids weren't too impressed.
After the aquarium we all had lunch. Jacob ate a huge order of popcorn shrimp! From there, everyone else headed back to the beach house, except for our little family and Boo. We decided to stop at the Wright Brothers' First in Flight museum on our way back. We were driving right by it and although we were tired, we knew we'd never have a better opportunity. It was a quick trip, but we took some fun pictures and were glad we made the effort. My favorite part was when I took Kate to the bathroom. While she was washing her hands she looked up at me with amazement and asked, "Is this where the first men went to the bathroom?" It really was a priceless memory!
Another day well spent!
